CELEBRATING SOME FINANCIAL STABILITY

In a business atmosphere that is more uncertain than it’s been for a long time, we’ve proved that stability can be created for the most ambitious of companies. And after one of the worst summers for years, we can claim to significantly control aspects of the climate as well!

Walk-in Stability Chambers, incorporating rooms to test the long-term shelf life of pharmaceutical products, are one of our leading products. We’ve just secured an order, worth around £600,000, for the construction of a suite of chambers, due for completion in early 2009. The customer is a well-known FTSE 100-listed company that is in the process of creating a purpose-built laboratory for Stability Storage testing of their extensive product range.

OVERSEAS DEVELOPMENT

These are exciting times for Vindon. A new UK headquarters at Rochdale and a recently-opened Stability Storage facility at Tramore in Ireland underline our drive to upgrade our facilities and service levels.

We are now in a strong position to further develop our business. The Vindon customer base has historically been focused on the UK market, but looking ahead in the new global economy, we have plans to follow up a number of overseas opportunities. This approach has already given us some early success with a new customer based in Denmark, as well as a number of new clients coming on board from the USA.

WHAT’S IN STORE?

Within the new premises, there will be cGMP-compliant freezer storage in mechanical freezers or liquid nitrogen vessels. This facility will include 24 x 7 x 365 21CFR, Part 11-compliant monitoring and alarm response, catering for all quantities, from one vial upwards.

Our brand new purpose-built best-in-class Stability Storage Suite provides unrivalled outsourced storage for our clients. Once fully operational, there will be approximately 80 walk-in Stability Rooms capable of accepting over 1,400m3 of product. Plus, the capability to expand even further! A complete range of World Climatic ICH Zone II conditions is available, along with other unique conditions.

Chambers and cabinets are also available for individual samples and trials, which can be validated at any temperature and/or humidity.

STEM CELL STORAGE - an exciting new venture

Stem cells are the critical building blocks of life for the developing embryo in the womb, able to develop into almost any cell type within the human body. On division, they have the potential to become a specific cell type, with a specialised function such as muscle, red blood or brain cells.

Stem cells can be easily collected from the umbilical cord of a newborn baby and stored under cryogenic conditions, usually at minus 197ºC, in special vessels containing liquid nitrogen. Medical researchers believe that stem cell therapy has the potential to dramatically change the treatment of human disease.

A number of adult stem cell therapies already exist. In the future, it is anticipated that we will be in a position to use technologies derived from stem cell research to treat a wider variety of diseases, including cancer. By storing stem cells taken from a baby’s umbilical cord, it is now possible for parents to insure their child’s future health against diseases such as cancer, diabetes, cardiovascular problems and blood disorders. What a fantastic gift for a newborn child! Vindon Scientific will be in a position to store stem cells in the very near future.

The Vindon Cryobank - our cryogenic storage facility has been built and established since March 2009 - taking Vindon into a totally different market sector and opening the doors to a new client base, including the NHS.

NEW FACILITY UP AND RUNNING

We are delighted to announce that Vindon Scientific successfully relocated to brand new premises during the month of August.

Based just off Junction 21 of the M62, on the Kingsway Business Park at Rochdale, the new 29,000 sq ft facility is now fully functional and geared up to support the company’s ambitious growth plans for the future.

With 40 year’s experience working out of the Diggle facility, the time had arrived to upgrade the plant and this could only be achieved by moving out of the Oldham area. The good news is that Kingsway is less than 7 miles from Diggle and this has ensured that the company has been able to retain its highly trained, experienced work force.

Our customers will also be pleased to hear that Kingsway is far more accessible than Diggle - we are literally 30 seconds from the motorway.

Our renowned customer service levels will be maintained and upgraded and the manufacturing capacity has been greatly increased. In order to offer extended services to our clients, the new storage capacity will be sufficient to store more than six times our previous capacity. There can be little doubt that Vindon now provides the best-in-class storage and disaster recovery facility for the UK and European pharmaceutical and biotechnology industry.
